9. Nummulitid Facies

Nummulite sandstones are predominantely composed of thick-walled, mostly rounded, nummulitid foraminifera and quartz grains.

Comparable thick-walled present-day specimens are most abundant in relatively shallow water, below fair-weather wave base.
