Definition:

A lamella is a more or less flattened or curved branch that usually has a dorsiventral internal organisation.

Lamellate branches are flattened branches with a dorsiventral organisation in layered and foliose thalli (i. e., in thalli without protuberances!).

Important: Lamellate branches are different from branches in fruticose plants.
